Kristaps Porzingis remains out indefinitely

The Warriors center has been sidelined by an unspecified health issue and is now expected to spend time around his teammates.

The Golden State Warriors said on October 14, 2026, that center Kristaps Porzingis will remain out indefinitely while dealing with a health-related matter. The NBA’s report, published October 15, said Porzingis visited the team’s practice facility at Chase Center the previous day and met with general manager Mike Dunleavy and Vice President of Player Health and Performance Dr. Rick Celebrini. Porzingis has missed training camp and preseason games. Golden State said he would be around his teammates in some capacity, but did not provide a date for his return to practice or game action. The team said it would share an update on his status, including any potential resumption of practice and his playing timeline, when available and appropriate. In a social media update cited by the NBA, Porzingis said he was working with doctors and experts to regain his health. He described his progress as improving but said he needed to remain patient. The report did not identify the health issue. Porzingis missed time in March with a medical issue and illness; coach Steve Kerr had described the situation at that time as mysterious. Porzingis, a 31-year-old Latvian, joined Golden State from Atlanta at the February trade deadline. The deal sent Buddy Hield and Jonathan Kuminga to the Hawks. He appeared in 32 games combined for Atlanta and Golden State last season, averaging 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 blocks. He played 15 games, including 11 starts, after joining the Warriors. Porzingis agreed to a two-year, $40 million contract in late June. Golden State had not ruled him out for its October 21 season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers at media day, but the latest status update leaves his availability uncertain. The Warriors have not announced a timetable for Porzingis to resume practice or play.
