RaceRoom patch adds regional ranked servers, UI refresh and broader steering support

Steam News lists new automatic wheel rotation handling for major wheel brands, ranked multiplayer region routing, electric-car fixes and server changes in the 24 March 2026 update.

RaceRoom Racing Experience received a substantial update on 24 March 2026, with an edited Steam News post on 25 March adding Moza to the list of wheelbases with official support for AUTO steering rotation. The official changelog, posted by J-F on the RaceRoom Racing Experience Steam News page, covers steering and wheel rotation handling, a UI pass across multiple menus, ranked multiplayer server routing, Shared Memory API changes, general fixes, physics and AI revisions, and dedicated server updates. The Steam News post identifies the update as Patch Notes - 24th March 2026, with an edit made on 25 March 2026 to add Moza to the list of wheelbases with official support for AUTO setting for rotation angle. The update details list a 6.1 GB download size, client version 0.9.7.58 with Client BuildID 22474681, and dedicated server version 106.0.1620 with Dedicated server BuildID 22475814. The same post names J-F as the author and links the announcement to the official RaceRoom Racing Experience Steam News channel. For players, tournament organizers and streamers, those build identifiers matter because they give a clear reference point for server administrators, event staff and competitors checking whether they are on the same revision. One of the most visible changes is improved steering rotation handling for all wheel types. The post says Fanatec, Logitech, Moza and Thrustmaster wheels should use Steering Rotation set to AUTO, while other wheels should use MANUAL with wheelbase maximum rotation matched to the driver setting. The patch also says steering range and FFB soft lock now adjust automatically per car, with the aim of ensuring the correct steering ratio without exceeding the wheel’s maximum rotation. Steering Ratio is now adjustable in the car setup, and rotation and steer lock update automatically based on the chosen settings. That combination is relevant to sim racers because it can simplify hardware setup across different brands, while also affecting how quickly drivers can move from car to car in organized sessions. The official notes frame this as handling and consistency work rather than a new gameplay feature. The update includes a user interface pass that changes the Options, Garage, Car Setup and Replay menus to match the Multiplayer menu style. The post says this is ongoing work toward a unified UI style, with the main menu planned next. HUD changes include an improved virtual mirror frame, improved driver tags above opponent cars, improved input meter visuals, and improved flag and warning visuals. These are quality-of-life adjustments, but they are also important for streamed broadcasts and league races because clearer HUD presentation can make on-track incidents and position changes easier to follow. The patch also updates the web browser framework, CEF, and adds an option to reset advanced audio settings to default. The Steam News post also mentions fixed localization issues in menus. For ranked multiplayer, the patch adds regional servers for Europe, North America and Singapore. The official note says race splits are hosted in the region closest to the majority of drivers. That change should matter to organized play because regional routing can reduce the administrative burden of staging races across distant servers, while also making it easier for competitors to understand where a split is likely to be hosted. The Shared Memory API is also updated. The post says the GitHub repository was updated to v3.5, with added player discharge rate and brake regeneration settings, added concrete terrain type, added steering wheel maximum rotation value, a flag indicating whether the player is in the garage, a clearer SessionPhase description, and extended Push-to-Pass states for multi-step systems such as the LRT NXT. The listed states are -1 for None, 1 for Available, 2 for Charging, and 3 for Charged and ready. The general fixes section is extensive. It removes the Installer + EULA step at first launch, saying the EULA is now handled through the Steam client. It also updates neutral gear shift logic when Neutral is bound, improves ABS behavior and signaling, disables track depth prepass to improve overall performance, and fixes broken reflections on damaged cars. Concrete surfaces now have their own specific properties and sounds, damage settings in Championship mode now apply correctly between sessions, consecutive qualifying sessions in multi-round formats are fixed, and multiple crash scenarios reported by users are addressed. The patch also fixes issues with results files not being generated correctly in multiplayer with multiple sessions, and prevents overwriting qualifying result files in multi-session events. Electric vehicles receive several corrections: S mode is removed from electric cars, regeneration is now available in standard drive mode when applicable, regeneration simulation is improved, battery usage calculations and fuel estimates are fixed, low battery warnings now trigger correctly, AI now recharges correctly during pit stops, and automatic gearbox behavior on electric vehicles, including neutral and reverse engagement, is corrected. There are also repairs to wrecking prevention, with cars now properly ghosted after finishing and when disqualified or retired. Driving the wrong way for an extended distance after finishing now returns the player to results. The post further notes fixed time-of-day behavior causing incorrect lighting at Vålerbanen, and that the dedicated server is now 64-bit. The Physics & AI section says the damage model has been updated with reduced wheel damage sensitivity, increased suspension resistance and adjusted wheel detachment behavior. That is likely to matter in both league racing and endurance events where damage balance can affect race continuity and pit strategy. Car-specific adjustments include updated shift LED timings for the Audi TT Cup, engine efficiency, suspension setup and shift lights for the Audi TT...
