iRacing Season 2 adds ARCA cars, Portland, and major simulator updates
Official Steam announcement details new content, lighting changes, AI improvements, and track overhauls for 2025 Season 2.
According to the official iRacing Steam News release published March 11, 2025, the 2025 Season 2 build brings a broad package of content, systems updates, and physics changes to the simulator.
The update goes live for the new season on March 18 at 0000 UTC and includes new cars, a new track, multiple track art overhauls, interface changes, and gameplay systems designed to affect both human and AI racing.
New cars and a new track headline the release
The most visible additions in the official announcement are three new ARCA Series racecars: the ARCA Chevrolet SS, ARCA Ford Mustang, and ARCA Toyota Camry. iRacing says the vehicle garage expands with three new bays for these cars.
Portland International Raceway also joins the sim in 2025 Season 2, giving users another officially supported venue for racing, testing, and hosted events.
For players, that combination matters immediately. New oval and road content can reshape weekly participation, while a new official track broadens options for league organizers and broadcasters looking to build fresh event calendars.
Major changes to the Legends Ford and vehicle dynamics
The Legends Ford '34 Coupe receives what iRacing describes as a stem-to-stern performance and physics overhaul, along with art updates and new audio. The car is also updated to be water-ready and may now equip rain tires.
Because of the scale of those changes, the Legends Ford '34 Coupe - Rookie car is being retired, according to the release. That makes the overhaul more than a tune-up; it changes how new and existing drivers approach one of iRacing’s classic vehicles.
The release also says vehicle engineers completed updates to the GTP Class Cars and the LMP2 tires, aiming for substantial improvements over 2025 Season 1 and greater realism. In addition, the Ray FF1600 receives an improved suspension geometry model, which iRacing says improves accuracy across all four contact points and will serve as the pioneer for similar changes to other vehicles. The vehicle dynamics team also recalibrated hundreds of vehicle setups to account for the broader set of changes in the build.
Track art, curbs, and lighting changes expand realism
iRacing says the Track Art Team completed full art overhauls of seven classic NASCAR tracks: Bristol Motor Speedway, Darlington Raceway, Dover Motor Speedway, Homestead Miami Speedway, Iowa Speedway, Kansas Speedway, and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The simulator also adds six tracks updated with the 3D modeled curb system: Circuito de Jerez - Ángel Nieto, Kansas Speedway, MotorLand Aragón, Rudskogen Motorsenter, Sandown International Motor Raceway, and Winton Motor Raceway, with more coming soon.
On top of that, the entire simulator receives what the release calls significant lighting updates that transform the appearance of cars and tracks. For streamers and viewers, lighting changes can alter how races look on broadcast; for drivers, they can also affect visual consistency across different venues and conditions.
Official Series browsing gets redesigned
The official announcement also introduces the Official Series Redesign, a new full-page layout meant to provide more space and more information when players browse, learn about, and join official series within iRacing.
That is a practical change for competitive users, because official series pages are a key entry point for deciding where to race next. A clearer layout can make it easier to compare series options, check requirements, and plan participation without leaving the sim’s main ecosystem.
For tournament organizers and league admins, any improvement in discoverability can matter if it helps racers find the right series faster and stay engaged across a season.
Online racing systems target fairness and incident management
Among the network and race-control changes, iRacing says it has implemented a new Connectivity Black Flag system. The release explains that participants with connections detrimental to others will be placed in a type of time-out until their connection quality reaches a satisfactory level.
The update also expands the track debris refresh system with informative local course debris caution flags. Both features point to the same objective: reducing disruption when online racing is affected by connection problems or debris-related incidents.
For competitive players, these systems matter because they can help preserve race quality in public sessions and official events. For broadcasters and organizers, fewer avoidable interruptions can make races more predictable to manage.
AI racing continues to expand, but one feature is delayed
The release says the new Adaptive AI Difficulty system is almost ready to debut, but will arrive later in a 2025 Season 2 patch instead of this initial build. iRacing says the system will automatically adjust AI Drivers’ racing skill during an event based on lap times to keep racing exciting.
AI Drivers also receive updates for a variety of rain racing tracks and have adapted to the updated NASCAR tracks that now feature SAFER barriers. The Dallara iR-01 and seven new track configurations, including Portland International Raceway, are described as AI-racing ready.
That gives solo racers and content creators more ways to stage competitive sessions against AI, while the delayed Adaptive AI Difficulty feature suggests iRacing is still tuning one of the season’s more notable automation systems before full release.
A broad seasonal build rather than a single headline feature
Taken together, the official iRacing Steam News post frames 2025 Season 2 as a wide-ranging update rather than a single-feature patch. It combines new content, physics work, visual updates, interface changes, and online systems changes in one seasonal rollout.
The season highlights listed by iRacing include the three ARCA cars, the Legends Ford '34 Coupe overhaul, Portland International Raceway, seven NASCAR track art overhauls, six tracks with new 3D curbs, the Official Series Redesign, Connectivity Black Flag, Local Course Debris Cautions, universal lighting updates, GTP and LMP2 tire updates, the Ray FF1600 suspension model, rain-ready Legends Ford support, and AI racing with the Dallara iR-01.
For the iRacing community, that breadth is the main story. New content creates fresh racing opportunities, while systems updates can affect how officials, leagues, streamers, and everyday competitors experience the same service on and after launch day.
