2022 SEC MBB Tourney Championship Texas A&M Aggies vs. Tennessee Volunteers | Game Highlights

Texas A&M 50, Tennessee 65 Amalie Arena, Tampa, FL. March 13, 2022 Ninth-ranked Tennessee dominated eighth-seeded Texas A&M from start to finish, winning 65- 50 to claim the program's first men's SEC Tournament title in 43 years, dating back to 1979. Tennessee set the tone immediately, opening the game on a 14-to-0 run that Texas A&M never recovered from. Kennedy Chandler began the scoring with a three-pointer, and Josiah Jordan James followed with a jumper, a free throw, and a three of his own to ignite the burst. The Aggies briefly cut the deficit to five points early in the second half, but Tennessee ratcheted up its defensive intensity from there and never let Texas A&M threaten again. Santiago Vescovi led the Volunteers with 17 points, James added 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Tennessee assisted on 19 of its 22 baskets, including the first 10 of the game. Freshman point guard Kennedy Chandler was named tournament MVP after finishing with 14 points and seven assists. Texas A&M got 13 points from Tyrece Radford and 12 from Henry Coleman III, but coach Buzz Williams credited Tennessee's game plan afterward, saying his team had no answers for the Volunteers' tactical decisions or their talent. The win capped an emphatic stretch for Tennessee, which had won 12 of its previous 13 games since a one-point loss at Texas in late January, and came after the Volunteers had already beaten Arkansas, Auburn and Kentucky twice in the weeks leading into the tournament. Head coach Rick Barnes was pulled into the championship celebration by his players despite trying to keep the spotlight on them, and the team cut down the nets together to celebrate the program's return to the top of the SEC. For Texas A&M, the loss meant a continued wait for the program's first-ever SEC Tournament title, though the deep tournament run still bolstered the Aggies' case for an NCAA Tournament bid. 🚨 Subscribe → https://www.youtube.com/@SEC 🎥 Watch more SEC Men’s Basketball Highlights → https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwtCoGcMK22qlAPTPhsKWyKd_fup90OGl&si=lac9fpoXcVtLPVyQ 💻 More SEC Basketball Content → https://www.secsports.com 🌐 SEC Social https://www.instagram.com/sec http://twitter.com/sec https://www.tiktok.com/@sec http://facebook.com/secsports #SEC #SECTournament #TexasAMAggies #TennesseeVolunteers #ItJustMeansMore #SECChampionship #CollegeBasketball #Highlights #SECNetwork #ESPN
