Passing the ball

Madden uses different throw trajectories. Bullet passes are fast and flat, lob passes travel higher, and touch passes sit between the two. Your passing style, quarterback ratings, pressure, receiver leverage, and how long you press the receiver button all affect the result. Use pass leading to place the ball away from coverage.

Catching the ball

Possession Catch prioritizes securing the completion, Aggressive Catch is intended for contested situations, and RAC Catch focuses on yards after the catch. Choose the catch type for the situation rather than automatically choosing the most aggressive option.

Defending passes

Near the receiver, decide whether to play for an interception or a safer breakup. Going for the ball while out of position can create a big play for the offense. Learn to switch defenders cleanly and stay responsible for your assigned zone or matchup.

Kicking and field position

Field goals depend on aim, power, timing, and wind. Punts are about field position, not just distance. Practice the active kick meter until the timing is automatic, especially before competitive games.

Frequently asked questions

They mainly change speed and trajectory: bullet is flatter and faster, lob is higher, and touch is in between.

When securing the completion matters more than extra yards after the catch.

No. A breakup is often safer when you are not in ideal position.
