Two EA Play Packs, One Familiar Catch

What EA has confirmed

In a Steam News announcement published October 1, 2026, EA says players can kick off their Madden NFL 27 season with an EA Play Welcome Pack if they have not already claimed it. It then directs players to log in to Ultimate Team to get an EA Play Pack for their squad.

The announcement does not detail the contents of either pack, explain how long the offer lasts, or specify eligibility beyond its EA Play framing. Those details should not be guessed at from the headline.

The fine print is part of the offer

EA explicitly says conditions, limitations and exclusions apply, and points players to its EA Play terms for details. That caveat is not decorative: before treating the packs as guaranteed, players should check the terms and whether the offer applies to them.

For Ultimate Team players, a pack is a small in-game incentive, not a published promise of particular items or squad upgrades. Streamers and tournament organizers should be just as careful: the announcement provides no basis for claiming that the packs change competitive rules, event eligibility or tournament balance.

A perk, not a policy announcement

The practical takeaway is modest. EA has advertised a two-step benefit, but its own wording leaves the important conditions to the linked terms. Players can check those terms and log in to Ultimate Team; anyone expecting more specific guarantees will have to wait for details EA has not supplied here.
