EA SPORTS WRC 2024 Season Expansion Adds Official Cars, Drivers, and Locations
Codemasters' rally sim is set to expand with 2024 FIA World Rally Championship content across multiple modes, with new cars, updated handling, and unified multiplayer access in key playlists.
EA SPORTS WRC is already described by the publisher as a rally game with more than 600 km of unique stages across 18 locations, and the 2024 Season Expansion is set to add the latest FIA World Rally Championship season content to that foundation.
In an official Steam News post published on September 26, 2024, EA SPORTS WRC detailed how the expansion will affect Championship Mode, Career, Time Trial, Clubs, Quick Play, and the Moments challenge system.
Official 2024 season content arrives across the game
The official Steam News update says the 2024 Season Expansion brings the cars, drivers, liveries, and locations from the latest FIA World Rally Championship season into EA SPORTS WRC. The publisher frames the expansion as an addition to an already large rally game built around more than 600 km of unique rally stages across 18 locations.
The update is not limited to a single playlist. EA SPORTS WRC says the 2024 content will be available in Championship Mode, Career, Time Trial, Clubs, Quick Play, and in the daily challenge system, Moments, which is inspired by WRC history. For players, that means the new season is intended to reach both solo progression and multiplayer competition rather than sit in one isolated mode.
Championship Mode follows the real-world season structure
In Championship Mode, players can race as and against up to 52 real drivers and crews from the 2024 World Rally Championship season. EA SPORTS WRC says the mode covers WRC, WRC2, and Junior WRC classes.
The official post also notes that, in 2024 season events, the WRC class will use the new points system introduced in real-world competition this year. The publisher describes this as rewarding a strong opening-leg result before the later Super Sunday and Power Stage stages can deliver additional bonus points. For players focused on authentic season structure, this is the clearest sign that the expansion is built to mirror the current championship format rather than only refreshing car lists.
Career, Time Trial, Clubs, and Quick Play all change in different ways
EA SPORTS WRC says Career mode will let players build their own rally team with access to the 2024 cars as well as historic vehicles from the base game. If a new Career save is started after October 8, players will be placed into the 2024 calendar immediately. Existing Career saves currently in a 2023 season will continue as-is until the next season, when they switch to the 2024 calendar, events, and opponents.
For Time Trial, Clubs, and Quick Play, the update allows 2024 cars to race against the base game’s 2023 cars in their respective classes. The Steam News post says this broadens the available competitive options while keeping leaderboards unified across the game’s popular multiplayer modes. That matters for regular players and for streamers who rely on stable, shared competition formats rather than fragmented seasonal playlists.
What happens in Clubs and Quick Play multiplayer
The publisher also sets out how access works in Clubs and Quick Play Multiplayer. In Clubs, players without access to the 2024 Season Expansion will skip any DLC stages when they appear on championship calendars, but will still compete normally across all base game locations.
In Quick Play Multiplayer, if the host owns the 2024 Season Expansion and selects a DLC location for an event, all players in that lobby gain temporary access to that location for the current event. For organized play, that detail is important because it allows mixed groups to race together without forcing every participant to own the same expansion before joining a session.
Five new cars, updated audio, and a stronger Rally1 lineup
The 2024 Season Expansion adds five new cars across the game’s three main WRC categories: WRC, WRC2, and Junior WRC. EA SPORTS WRC says the latest models from Toyota, Hyundai, and Ford arrive with official 2024 liveries and bodyworks.
Among the highlighted Rally1 cars are Toyota’s GR Yaris Rally1 HYBRID, Hyundai’s i20 N Rally1 HYBRID, and M-Sport Ford’s Puma Rally1 HYBRID. The Steam News post says the handling of the new Rally1 vehicles has been built to accurately replicate their real-world counterparts. It also states that new engine audio has been recorded for the Puma Rally1 HYBRID, while the Hyundai and Toyota vehicles receive updates to existing recordings, with the stated goal of improving the onboard experience.
Rivalries from the current season are built into the roster
The official post names Toyota’s full-time drivers Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta, along with Sébastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanperä, as part of the GR Yaris Rally1 HYBRID lineup. Hyundai’s i20 N Rally1 HYBRID is associated in the post with Thierry Neuville and Ott Tänak, supported by multiple part-time drivers throughout the season. M-Sport Ford’s Adrien Fourmaux and Grégoire Munster are also named in connection with the Puma Rally1 HYBRID.
EA SPORTS WRC additionally says the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 is being added to the roster, allowing players to recreate the real-life battle between Škoda and Citroën in-game. That makes the expansion relevant not just as a car pack, but as a way to stage current-category matchups that reflect the season the game is representing.
Newsroom
Based on the official Steam News update, the 2024 Season Expansion is designed to keep EA SPORTS WRC aligned with the current WRC season while preserving compatibility across core modes and multiplayer systems. For players, that means more official content; for league organizers and streamers, it means a broader but still unified set of competitive options.
