GB Women’s Flag sets October trials camp
The two-day Loughborough assessment will support selection for the 2027 international season.
The GB Women’s National Flag Programme is set to hold a high-performance assessment camp in Loughborough on 10–11 October, according to the British American Football Association (BAFA).
The two-day event is part of the programme’s talent identification and selection pathway for the 2027 international season. BAFA reports that the reigning European champions finished fourth at the 2026 World Championships.
Assessment across four areas
The camp will assess athletes against physical, technical, tactical and behavioural standards. It will be delivered by the GB Women’s National Coaching and Performance Staff in an environment aligned with Team GB and BAFA high-performance expectations.
Saturday morning is scheduled to include athlete check-in and verification from 9am, baseline physical and performance testing, positional testing, movement assessments, and an introduction to the GB play philosophy and standards.
Training and evaluation over two days
The programme for Saturday afternoon and Sunday includes group training, tactical implementation and programme installs, competitive drills, situational football, classroom learning and ongoing performance evaluation.
Athletes will rotate through training groups for structured assessment. BAFA says groupings may change according to on-field performance, coach assessment and programme requirements, and that athletes are expected to attend both days.
Conduct is part of the pathway
Participants are required to follow the GB National Programme Code of Conduct and represent themselves and the programme professionally on and off the field. The stated expectations include commitment to team values and learning, positive training behaviours, respect for staff, teammates and facilities, and openness to coaching feedback.
BAFA says failure to meet behavioural and performance expectations may affect an athlete’s progression within the pathway.
