Eagles send Cam Jurgens to Ravens in Oct. 7 trade

Why Philadelphia made the move

NFL.com described Jurgens as a player who had struggled after dealing with a back injury in 2024. The report said he had moved to left guard during the three weeks before the trade and had been a liability through four games that season.

The report also said Philadelphia had considered benching Jurgens, while center Drew Kendall had performed better in Sean Mannion’s scheme. NFL.com viewed the second-round pick as a strong return for a struggling player who did not fit the team’s plans.

Baltimore takes a chance on a return to form

The Ravens were seeking help at center after Tyler Linderbaum signed with the Raiders in free agency. NFL.com noted that Baltimore’s other options—Danny Pinter, Jovaughn Gwyn and Ethan Pocic—had all landed on injured reserve.

The outlet characterized the deal as a gamble that Jurgens could regain his form at center in a different scheme. It also noted that his contract gave Baltimore team control through 2029 at a relatively low cost.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that Jurgens entered the league’s concussion protocol as he joined Baltimore, according to NFL.com. The outlet said his health and ability to return to form would shape the value of the move.

A significant change for the Eagles’ line

The trade came one day after Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson retired, NFL.com reported. The outlet said Willie Lampkin was in line to take over at guard, while Landon Dickerson was expected to return from injured reserve at a later point.

The NFL trade deadline was set for Nov. 10, 2026. NFL.com’s deadline coverage said it was reviewing trades made since the start of the regular season.
