Finnish officials attend youth flag football Euros

A clock system linked to tournament coverage

According to the Finnish American Football Association (SAJL), the trial was organised by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). The official responsible for the game clock followed playing time on a smartwatch, with that information sent directly to the tournament results service and the graphics used in match streams.

The Finnish officials learned about the technology during training, but did not get to use it themselves, SAJL reported.

The tournament was flag football

The event described by SAJL was a youth flag football European championship. Flag football is distinct from tackle American football, so the report does not establish that the clock system was tested at a tackle tournament.
